Massage Chairs Feature Foot Reflexology Massage

There many different types of alternative medicine that are available today. One particular type of alternative medicine which has been practiced for centuries is reflexology. Reflexology utilizes different movements such as massaging, squeezing and pushing different parts of the feet. Reflexology has evolved in our knowledge of it with it. Although the concept of reflexology is not new its availability in massage chairs has occurred in just the last few years.

Reflexology is unique in certain respects as it utilizes what are known as the trigger point on the feet. It is thought that these trigger points are related to different organs in the body. As with many alternative medicines, sufficient studies have not been conducted to prove or deny these claims.

One of the good things about reflexology massage is that there are no known side effects. The worst that can possibly happen is that your feet are massaged for too long. If your feet are over massage then it is possible that they could be a little bit sore afterward.

The manufacturers of massage chairs have extensively studied many of these alternative medicines including reflexology. Many of the concepts of reflexology have now been duplicated with technology in massage chairs. This is a convenient way to receive reflexology foot massage on-the-fly.

Massage chairs come with leg rests that contain foot wells. The foot wells are specially designed to deliver an effective reflexology foot massage. Located under need the feet are either reflexology plates or airbags with reflexology nodes. These are designed to gently stimulate the trigger points on the soles of the feet.

To provide a soothing foot massage, most manufacturers of massage chairs utilize an air massage system. Specially designed airbags are located in the foot wells to provide a compression massage. Compression massage delivers a soothing and relieving massage for the feet.

In order to coordinate all the action going on in the foot wells, massage chairs utilize a computer board. Customized programs have been developed to deliver the reflexology foot massage. This enables the massage chair to activate and deactivate the different systems to provide a relieving reflexology foot massage.

The reflexology foot massage is activated by using the remote control. The remote control then starts the software program for the foot massage. These coordinate the airbags and the stimulation of the trigger points of the feet.

Some massage chairs use reflexology plates. The airbags are used to push the feet downward onto the reflexology plate. This is one method to stimulate the trigger points on the feet. Other manufacturers use reflexology nodes on the airbags. The air bags inflate underneath the feet which push the nodes into the trigger points on the soles of your feet.

Practitioners have reflexology have developed different maps of the feet. These maps show the location of different trigger points and their corresponding organs. As these areas are stimulated it helps to relax its related organ.

There are really two parts to receiving a reflexology foot massage in massage chairs. One is to write a thorough and relieving foot massage. The second is to stimulate the trigger points which induce its corresponding organ to relax. By systematically massaging the feet, it helps to relax the entire body.

If you are interested in learning more about reflexology foot massage, then check out some of the models from Omega, Panasonic and Sanyo. These are the top manufacturers of massage chairs and they have developed effective reflexology foot massages. Many of their models contain reflexology foot massage as a standard feature.

These companies understand the importance of the seat in providing a full body relaxation. Massage chairs also contain a number of other massage and therapeutic treatments in addition to foot reflexology.

Top 10 Considerations in Selecting Your Massage Chair

First congratulations on starting your research into a massage chair. Certainly, a massage chair recliner may be one of the most critical products you put into your home. They can be one of the best purchases you make, if you take your time and find out what is most important to you. A massage chair is an investment in your health and well-being. A massage chair might be a necessity if you have certain health conditions or it may be an outstanding luxury. Finding the perfect massage chair for you can help to relieve aches, pains and tension. A massage chair can help improve your blood circulation and generally just make you feel better. Whatever perspective you are coming from, find out what massage chair features are important for you. Also, keep in mind that you will have the shiatsu massage chair for many years to come. So think about how your needs may change through time.

10 Steps for finding the perfect massage chair for you

1) Know Yourself: First and foremost you have to understand your needs and what results or benefits do you want from a massage chair. Do you have back problems, neck problems, poor circulation or a lower back problem? What type of massage techniques are right for you? Kneading, Rolling, Tapping, Shiatsu, Swaying, etc.? Do you want a foot massage? Do you want full lower body massage capability? Also, how tall are you? Are other potential users taller or shorter than you? You will want to find a chair that fits best for those who will use it the most. Also, keep in mind that you may be very sensitive to getting massages at first, but in time you will become more used to it. If you are looking longer term, you may want a strong massage chair and use extra pads to start. You can remove the pads later for a stronger massage. First think through what your current needs are but also your longer term needs.

2) Quick Fix or Long Term Solution: Are you looking to get into a massage chair to relieve one symptom over a short time period. Maybe you want a entry level massage chair that is simple to use and lower price. Or are you looking for a longer-term solution where you expect long term performance and many advantageous features. Lower end massage chairs have short warranties and are built with lower quality components. Higher end massage chairs have longer warranties, more features and are built with higher quality components.

3) Features of Massage chairs: You will need to start to put a list together of important features for you. What features are important to you? Do you want a massage chair with just a back massage? Do you want lower body massage? Do you want heat? Do you want to have a music player? Do you want a manual recline or motorized recline? There are many important decisions to make. You will want to prioritize your list. Not all massage chairs will have the exact combination to match your list. At some point you may need to make some tradeoffs.

4) Try Some Massage chairs: Many malls have stores that carry massage chairs. You should go and try them. You can also go to home shows which usually have massage chairs as well. You will want to sit in them and see how they feel for you. While your trying them, check out their prices. Most store malls will carry slightly different models than what you find on the internet. Remember that a store has to cover more overhead than an internet site, so they will generally be more expensive at the mall.

5) Research Massage chairs: The internet allows you to research massage chairs fairly quickly and conveniently. Check out the main manufacturers or brands. There are many resellers, but few actual manufacturers. Find the few top brands that are of interest to you and then go to the manufacturer website or call them. Most manufacturers do not sell direct, but they will answer your questions. Request literature, find specifications, etc. Call some of the retailers or internet retailers and ask them their opinions. Ask your friends or any you know who has a massage chair.

6) Long Term Considerations: Evaluate the warranties of each manufacturer. How long is the coverage? Companies like Sanyo and Panasonic only have a 1 year warranty. Others may have 3-5 year warranties (at no additional cost). Also, what type of service will they provide if you have a problem? Do you have to ship your massage chair or take it to an authorized service center? Massage chairs weigh 100lbs to 200 lbs and shipping is expensive. Some manufacturers offer in home service. Be aware before you buy!

7) Evaluate all the Information: Weigh out the features, styling, warranty, etc for the massage chairs that you like. Also, who is going to use the massage chair? What are their weights and heights? What types of needs do they have and what features are the best to cover those who will use it? Did you get to actually try the massage chairs on your list? If you did not, then you may find a retailer carrying that massage chair in your area. If not, some internet resellers offer a 30 day trial period. However, most will refund your money less all shipping expenses. Check around and find out.

8) Placement of Your Massage chair: Where do you want to put your massage chair? Will it be in your home or office? Do you know what room you would like it in? Massage chairs come in all different styles, materials and colors. Find a massage chair that will compliment your room.

9) Ready to Make Your Decision: OK, decision time. Which massage chair did you select? Where do you want to purchase it? What kind of shipping do you want? Do you want them to drop it off in the box or set it up for you? Shop around and see what makes sense for you.

10) Sit Back and Relax: The best day is when you first get to sit in your massage chair! All the hard work is behind you! Enjoy, you have earned it!

Key Features of Massage Chairs

If you are looking for a massage chair, then you should understand some of the basic options that are typical in these massage recliner. These advanced chairs continue to evolve, offering you more feature than ever before. Different parts of the recliner offer a variety of options to think about to find the best massage lounger for your need. Here are some of the more salient aspects of massage chairs for your perusal.

Chair Back Massage: Massage chairs really started with the back massage. A mechanical roller system is the often used and the most effective. Most roller systems perform both kneading and tapping massages. They may use one motor or two motors. The two motor configuration comes with a tapping motor and a kneading motor. This ensures sufficient strength to provide good penetration.

Chair Back Recline: The massage chair needs to recline. This allows you to put more weight on the roller mechanism for deeper penetration. A motorized chair back recline is pretty standard in most chairs. The other option is a piston-driven manual system. A piston-driven system will provide lift in one direction. Usually, the incline is provided assistance. Your body weight is used to recline the chair.

Seat Massage: The seat can provide massage either from beneath the seat or from the seat cushion. Massage heads can be incorporated in the seat beneath a cushion. These may be rotary heads built into the seat. Vibration can be used either beneath the seat or in the seat cushion. In the seat cushion is a combination of air bags, vibration motors and even heating elements. The seat cushion performs the massage directly.

Leg Rest Massage: There are two basic approaches to massaging the legs in a massage recliner. Either an air system is used or a mechanical roller system is used. The air system is driven by a compressor and provides a compression massage with air bags. The air bags are designed to provide effective compression massage to larger muscles. In a mechanical roller system, a motor drives a rotary massage for the legs to provide a kneading sensation.

Leg Rest Incline: The leg rest either has a motorized incline or manual piston-assisted recline/incline. The motorized provides for one touch raising or lowering. With a piston-assisted, the leg rest will rise with the assistance of the piston, but the weight of the legs are used to recline the leg rest to its down position.

Remote Control: Remote controls are either embedded in the chair, usually the armrest. Or have a hardwired remote that stores either in a remote arm holder or a pocket in the armrest. Remotes may have LEDs or LCD depending on price point. Wireless remotes are another option, which right now are limited to sub remotes which are designed to be more portable. Check between automatic massage programs which are one-touch and manual programs. Manual programs may require you to push a sequence of buttons. Ease of use is always a question with remotes.

Style: Massage recliner designs have lacked while technology is pushed forward. Many chair companies have horrible looking, industrial designs. You know the chair will get relegated to the garage. There are some beautiful designs, but the vast majority is simply tasteless. Check around and see what you like.

Massage chairs are a moving target. More great features continued to be added at an incredible pace. There are a lot of choices and you should see what you like in both massage therapy and design. This is a long term purchase and you want to make sure you target your longer term needs. There are a wide range of massage therapies available and you should learn more about those. Buy a Massage Chair For Comfort First

Buying a massage chair can be tricky if this is your first time. Because comfort and massage functions are the primary functions the massage chair will serve, the most important thing you can do in your research is go to multiple stores and try out a variety of brands, models, and designs.

Massage chairs have built in rollers, nodes, and air bags that try to emulate the hands and fingers of a massage therapist. When you are at the store trying the chairs out, notice the different massage functions as well as the intensity of the massage. Some chairs offer more massage functions, some allow you to set combinations of functions as well as the intensity. Most chairs that allow you to adjust the intensity will come with removable cushions. Just use more cushions to lighten the massage intensity, or fewer cushions to increase the intensity.

Inanimate comfort of the massage chair is really about supporting and filling the contours of your body. It comes down to size, and density of the chair. Removable cushions give users flexibility when it comes to density. You can add more cushions if you prefer to lounge on something soft or, if you need more support, remove cushions if you want your chair to be more firm with less support in specific areas of the body.

Comfort of the massage itself is about fitting the rollers to the size of the user. Some chairs start the back massage high in the backrest and rolls downward. For some people the starting position of the roller is too high and needs to be adjusted to start at a lower position. Some high end chairs will recognize the user's height and automatically adjust accordingly. Even fancier featured chairs can even sense the location of the user's spine. Other chairs will let you choose the sequence of massages and save settings that you like best to be performed the next time you hop on. Some chairs work areas other than the back like the arms, hips, legs and feet using air bags that inflate and deflate. Whatever you decide on, it is crucial to make sure you find a chair that fits your height or is adjustable to your height and anyone else who will be sharing use of the chair with you on a consistent basis.

For many people, the massage chair is a bulky item that will serve dual purpose as lounge chairs too. This being the case, you want your massage chair to be something that you look forward to when you come home. And being home is all about comfort.

Massage Chairs Review is designed to help you learn everything you need to know about massage chairs. When buying a chair we want you to be able to select the right chair and be aware of the different types of massage chairs and feature available.

Whole Body Massage With a Massage Chair Recliner

One of the most pleasurable and relaxing experiences is getting a whole body massage. All the built up tensions, anxieties and stresses start to melt away as the massage is performed. When people think of massages, they think of a massage therapist working them over little by little to calm and relaxing music. There is something very special about a massage from a trained specialist. Another effective alternative to a massage therapist is a massage chair.

Interestingly, most people think of a massage chair as a luxury. In some cases it certainly is a luxury. However, the impression people have is that massage chairs are expensive. And they are right if you only look at the price tag and not the lifetime value of the massage chair. A massage chair is actually the most cost effective massage treatment available. It can run as little as a dollar a day and no tip required. Now, most people think massage recliners just massage your back. In reality, massage chairs perform whole body massages.

Take for example, the Panasonic EP30004 Real Pro Ultra. This chair can massage your whole body and not just your back. Besides having hundreds of massage options for your back, it also can massage your arms, hands, hips, buttocks, calves and feet. The Real Pro Ultra uses an air compression massage system for the lower body which delivers a soothing and relieving lower body massage.

You do not have to go to the spa to relax, if you have the Omega Montage Premier Massage chair. The Montage Premier provides a thorough full body massage from your head to your toes. Additionally, the Montage comes with full body heat, where you can apply heat in the back, seat and the leg rest. The Montage Premier has a built in MP3 player so you can put on the included headphones and relax to your favorite music during the massage. This recliner also has a music synchronization function. This function will massage you to the rhythm of your music.

The features that are being added into massage chairs increases every year. The massage programs keep getting more varied and include many more techniques like Hawaiian, Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu and many more. More complimentary functions are being added such as lower body traction which extends the muscles and ligaments of the lower body. The back massage rollers contain more finger-like mechanisms that replicate the movements of hands. The technology keeps advancing and coupled with software has produced a tremendous variety of massage therapies.

If you have never tried a massage chair, you definitely should. Most people are surprised at how effective it delivers massage therapy. Again, the technology keeps advancing rapidly and even chairs from a few years ago lack many of the new features that are available today. If you have not had a full body massage, then you are really in for a treat. Sometimes there is some discomfort as you start to relax your muscles that have not been touched in a long time. Let the massage penetrate deeply into the muscle tissue. This is always a good gage of your stress level to see if the massage makes squirm a little bit. This is especially true if you have not had one in a while. A whole body massage will help change your attitude and get your body reinvigorated. Let a massage chair deliver a whole body massage to you in your own home.

Save Thousands on Massage Therapy With a Massage Chair

It may seem like a contradiction. How do you save money when you have to spend money? Most people look at massage chairs as luxury items. They certainly are luxury items if you really do not need the massage therapy that they can provide. On the other hand, if you do need the massage therapy that they then massage chairs can save you a significant amount of money. Many people suffer from back pain or other conditions that require medical or chiropractic treatment. We all know that health care costs continue to rise. How do you save money buying a massage chair?

If you are already receiving massage treatments, then you know that there is a lot of expense involved. You have to make an appointment. You need to drive to and from the office of the massage therapist. You need to take the time from work or other activities. You need to pay per hour of massage therapist time plus their tip. If you go to a massage therapist a few times a month, the bill could be hundreds of dollars per month. This is thousands of dollars per year.

You may already be getting treatment for an ailment that you have. Perhaps you are seeing a chiropractor. The good doctor puts you through a barrage of therapies, adjustments, exercises and more. The chiropractor is helping you to get your situation corrected. But you also need to make changes to keep those conditions from recurring. Many chiropractors use massage treatments to help their patients. If your insurance requires co-pays and other deductibles, then you may be paying hundreds per year or more.

Now, if you really need massage treatment, then you have options. You can certainly see a massage therapist. A massage therapist is definitely a great way to go, when you can afford both the time and the money. However, massage chairs are another viable alternative. These chairs range in price from $599 to $5,999 and offer a terrific range of massage therapies and full body massages.

The interesting thing is people look at massage recliners as expensive. They see the total cost of say $3,000 and they think, Wow! That is expensive for massage therapy. But they really do not look at paying $75 plus tip once a week as expensive. Let us say that a massage therapist runs $75 plus tip at $10 for a total of $85 per a one hour session. Let us assume that we visit the massage therapist once a week. How long does it take until we pay for the cost of a $3,000 massage recliner? It takes 35 weeks or 35 massage treatments.

The chair cost is equivalent to 35 hours of massage therapy performed by a massage therapist. How long are these automated recliners rated to last? The typical chair in the $3,000 range is designed for 1,000 to 2,000 hours of life. Let us take the lower number of 1,000 hours. How much does an hour of massage therapy cost on a massage chair. $3,000 divided by 1,000 gives us $3/hour of massage therapy! The best part is you do not have to pay a tip. You can pay a massage therapist $85/hour or $3/hour for a massage chair.

These chairs give you a tremendous return on your investment and lowers your massage treatment cost dramatically. Cost is just one area, convenience is another. Another huge advantage is in-home convenience and 24/7 access. No hassle making appointments or keeping them. With a massage chair, just sit yourself down and select the massage therapy of your choice. Let the massage chair work its magic. They help you to relax and relieve your aches and pains without hurting your wallet.

Massage Chairs - Understanding Massage Chair Manufacturers and Retailers

This article is intended to give consumers a flavor for what happens behind the scenes in the massage chair world, on both the manufacturing and the retailing side. Understanding those relationships allows consumers to make the most informed decision and to save money. Let's start with the manufacturing side.

First, the basics. Massage chair sales are highly competitive, and only the most aggressive and consistently well-priced manufacturers can survive. Further, massage chairs occupy a very small range of technology that is very densely-populated with innovative ideas. Consequently, the patents obtained by the manufacturers are often closely related, and their protection is crucial to the manufacturers' long-term well-being.

In our experience, these facts result in a level of competition that is unmatched in most other industries. Manufacturers are keenly aware of what their competitors are doing, and they are constantly trying to out-maneuver "the other guy." This can take the form of trying to pirate competitors' ideas (infringing on patents) or the reverse, attempting to draw one's own patents exceptionally broadly and making claims against other manufacturers when their ideas come anywhere near one's own patent-protected innovations. Litigation is the inevitable result.

This competition can also take the form of bad-mouthing the competition with retailers. "The problem with X manufacturer is that his chairs don't A, B, or C." Or the ever-present, "Yes, but his warranty is only Z years long. How can you trust somebody who won't stand behind his chairs?" Of course, this is only natural in a capitalistic world, but the disparagement seems to be exceptionally bitter in the massage chair world.

What does this mean to consumers? It means you have to be exceptionally careful when you read what one manufacturer says about another. The best approach is to find a non-biased third-party review, either from somebody who does not sell massage chairs, or from somebody who sells many different kinds.

It also means one should be careful researching the quality of the manufacturer. As I noted, only the strongest manufacturers can survive in this competitive industry. Consequently, one should seriously research not only the chair he intends to purchase, but the manufacturing company itself. In the world of internet sales, looking into a manufacturer is easy. Simply go into Google and type in the name of the manufacturer and a couple accompanying words (one at a time). For example, searches for "Human Touch massage chairs and share price" or "Premier Health Products and patent" might turn up the kind of information you need. (I use these names just as examples and not as recommended searches.) You might also look at "Omega massage chair and dispute" or "Homedics and financial report." You want to check into whether these companies are financially healthy, since a long warranty period is worthless if the company is no longer in business when you need the warranty.

Now, what about the retail world of massage chairs? Again, a little insight into retailers' relationships with manufacturers can really assist consumers make good choices.

For example, understanding MAP policies can save buyers hundreds of dollars. MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Pricing. It is the price below which retailers are not allowed to advertise. Let me explain. A retailer may purchase a massage chair for $3,000, but the MAP may be $4,000. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price may be $4,999.99. The retailer is not allowed to advertise the manufacturer's chair for less than the $3,000.

Most manufacturers in the massage chair world are dead serious about MAP. Human Touch is especially vigilant about making sure no retailer sells for less than MAP. Why is this so important to manufacturers? Because it's important to retailers. A retailer, especially an online retailer who has no brick and mortar overhead) is sometimes motivated to move a lot of product (whether for cash flow or other reasons). That retailer may not be interested in making much of a profit in the short run. So he may slash his prices, which hurts the other retailers in the industry. If that happens often, those other retailers will be forced to close their doors or curtail advertising and other promotions. While sales for a manufacturer may receive a temporary boost from the undercutting retailer, the long-term result is fewer retailers willing to sell that manufacturer's product.

Our own company has experienced just such a situation. One online retailer was cutting the legs out of the market on a particular line of products by offering them for very little over wholesale cost. Our reaction was to insist that the manufacturer enforce MAP or risk losing our long-term business. This is what manufacturers experienced many times over, and the MAP policy is their answer.

Manufacturers are in a little bit of a quandary, though, because they cannot fix prices, or they risk getting into litigation. Enforcement of a MAP policy entails cutting off retailers who refuse to abide by the rules, and that addresses the price undercutting issue effectively.

So what does this mean for consumers? It means that when a retailer urges you to call and ask for best pricing, you should do it! Even if they do not urge you to call, you should. They cannot advertise a lower price, but they can quite often offer you a better price (or in some cases a package of incentives) on the phone, which does not violate MAP policies.

In the massage chair industry, MAP generally preserves a relatively good margin for retailers, anywhere between 25% and 40% or even more. So retailers will generally advertise right at MAP. (There is no need to ask for a higher price, since the margin is good.) For those who do advertise above MAP, they may be including shipping or some other factor into their pricing, so you should always work all the way through your shopping cart to determine what your bottom line price will be (after shipping, taxes, and any other price factors such as white glove delivery). Do not assume the price you first see is the price you will pay. If you see an advertised price that is lower than everybody else, you should beware, since the manufacturer will catch on at any time, and the chair may not actually be shipped to you.

There is one last thing for you to consider with regard to massage chair retailers. It is extremely easy to put up a website and start selling massage chairs, so you have to be careful not to do business with a fly-by-night operation. Let me give you a few tips to make sure you're dealing with a reputable and solid retailer. First, look online and determine who comes up first in the natural results in the search engines. As a general rule, older sites with an actual history will come up first in the natural listings section, since Google likes older, more-established sites. Do not trust the pay-per-click sections (at the very top and on the right side), as anybody can purchase spots in the top sections of this advertising. (The only exception would be if you are searching for a very specific product and you see exactly what you want in the pay-per-click section and not in the natural results.)

Second, look for a site that provides an 800 number and actually answers the phone when you call. Listen for tell-tale signs of a home operation, such as non-business noises in the background.

Third, look for a well-organized site that has a wide selection. A company that has relationships with several different manufacturers is more likely to have the connections you need when you need to assert your warranty or return a defective chair. We recently experienced a situation where a customer needed to return a damaged chair and called the manufacturer to do so. The manufacturer refused to take the return, despite our customer's pleas. When our customer called us, we were able to use our influence and the weight of our continuing business to insist that the customer be treated fairly. (It required phone calls and finally an e-mail from our vice president to the manufacturer's national sales manager.) You will not get this kind of response from a retailer operating out of a basement and selling just one or two kinds of chair.

I should make one caveat to that statement, however. Premier Health Products only accepts retailers who sell PHP chairs exclusively (along with some Panasonic chairs, with whom PHP has a special relationship). This means that, for PHP at least, the fact that a retailer only carries one or two lines does not mean the retailer is not a professional operation. It just means the retailer has made a commitment to PHP to sell only PHP chairs.

I hope this information has been helpful and that you find success as you search for that perfect massage chair.

Massage Chairs Give You Relief Of Stress And Pain

Do you suffer from aches, pains and discomfort? Does it flare up periodically? Once it does it can also be very stressful. Many people are finding comfort in getting relief with a massage chair. Even if you don't suffer from aches and pains, you should look at how a massage recliner can enhance the health of your body and mind. A variety of complementary treatments are being added into massage chairs.

When we come under stress our bodies react to protect itself. The normal reaction is the fight or flight reaction. The body protects itself by releasing adrenaline. The adrenaline gives us the energy needed for immediate survival. However, most modern stress is without such a physical release.

Stress can also cause stiffness in the body. When we are under stress the muscles are tense. This tension eventually causes fatigue in the muscles. This tension and fatigue make the muscle very tight and constrained. It is important to stretch out muscles when they are tight. Stretching maintains the elasticity of the muscle fibers.

Massage recliners are great for relaxing. When you feel your stress starting to build up, just sit down and touch button to activate the massage chair. If you want to escape from your reality then slip on the headphones and start the MP3 player to let the relaxation begin. Let the music relax and soothe your mind. The massage recliner will work through its regimen systematically relieving your aches and pains.

The montage premier massage recliner is equipped with an MP3 player and headphones. Just activate the MP3 player and the noise cancellation headphones will relax your mind. To experience your music in a new dimension, activate the music synchronization of the montage premier massaging recliner. The rhythm of the massage technique will synchronize with the beat of the music.

One very specialized massage technique only available in Panasonic massage recliners is the Junetsu technique. The Junetsu technique means ultra fine kneading. The ultra fine kneading massage of the Panasonic massage chair provides for deep muscle penetration. The rollers make a deliberate circular motion as it penetrates the muscles.

Many medical and chiropractic treatments involve the use of massage therapy. Massage therapy is targeting the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Restoring flexibility and elasticity to the soft tissues is important in the healing process. Massage recliners are routinely used to provide massage therapy to the muscles, skin, tendons, joints and ligaments.

Omega massage has included in its montage premier massaging recliner a lower body stretching capability. This lower body stretching exerts a pulling force on the lower half of the body. You can stretch out your legs from the hips to the ankles with this stretching system. The montage premier massage recliner integrates the stretching seamlessly into its automatic massage programs.

Panasonic has designed its real Pro elite massage chair so that it can save custom programs from users. This can be very convenient if you would like a massage repeated in a particular area. The real Pro elite allows for a number of custom programs to be saved per user. This and many other advanced features are found in massage recliners.

A massaging recliner can help you reduce your body aches and pains and your stress level. A massaging recliner can deliver a soothing and relaxing massage at the touch of a button. Massage chairs are a great way to receive massage therapy on your schedule. Find out how a massage chair can help you reduce your stress during these tough times.

Office Massage Chairs - The Clever Way to Reward Your Employees Or Improve Your Health

At work a good chair is a must. It is very important for your health because you surely spend a long time sitting at your desk. Nevertheless many people tend to give more attention to other office furniture while planning their office thus forgetting about health issues and ending on budget chairs. Some of these are solid, guaranteed for years and with adjustable parts but are not studied for prolonged usage. You should only consider those that offer you ergonomic benefits, helping your back while you sit at your desk and keep your legs, shoulders and neck comfortable while you work.

Employers could consider buying massage chairs, if not for all their employees, at least as a benefit for some of them. This would be a wonderful way to reward them, an incentive that would surely be much appreciated and would pay the company back with increased productivity. No doubt, an office massage chair would decrease stress: a good position together with a massage, a simple 10-15 minutes a day is sufficient, relax tense muscles offering mental benefits thus improving the employees' result.

But there is another very important issue an employer should consider. As the American Chiropractic Association confirms, a regular massage provides invaluable health benefits: improves blood circulation thus having a positive effect on the heart, reduces high blood pressure, improves lymph circulation, joint flexibility and motion, relieves muscular tension and help eliminating toxins from the body.

An office massage chair for employees would result in decreased absence from work due to health problems and it's therefore a gift a company primarily makes to itself.

How should a good office massage chair be?

There are many features to consider. First it should have seat adjustment functions, and this is very important because the same model must be comfortable for different weights and heights. Then the massage functions should also be adjustable to work on different kind of muscle tension to fit different people needs. Another important issue is the noise: the motor must be powerful but quite noiseless otherwise the massage chair can turn into a disturbing factor at the workplace. A solid, durable cover should be consider along with design and last but not least the warranty, which should be as long as possible and in house to avoid the expense to take the massage chairs at the service center.

Once you have considered the priorities, you might want to see them along with your budget. Unless you are checking an office chair for your executives, for which you might be willing to spend quite a lot, you might exclude office chairs with lower body massage, with music and motorized recline. You might consider heat massage which is highly beneficial but depending on your budget you might want to exclude it. The market offers such a great variety of office massage chairs that you will be easily able to find the right one for your employees.

The employer who consider office massage chairs as a benefit for his employees for a half year or year-end incentive, will be greatly rewarded in many ways.

Massage Chair Review - Human Touch 1650 Massage Chair

We rank the Human Touch 1650 number three in our top category ($4,000 to $5,000), because it is a truly outstanding chair. Human Touch is a little bit more prone to customer service issues than some of the other top-level massage chair manufacturers, which slightly limits our enthusiasm for this chair, but feature for feature, the Human Touch 1650 matches or exceeds every other chair in this category, with very few exceptions.

Walk with me through this chair's numerous features. First, let's step back and look at the classic design of the chair. Some people prefer a futuristic-looking massage chair, since it is packed with cutting-edge technology, but Human Touch has chosen to package their advanced technology into a beautifully classic style. With just a quick glance, you may not even realize this is not a regular recliner.

But sit down in this chair, and your eyes will be opened. With the touch of a button, the fully retractable foot and calf massager presents itself. You may put your feet in the calf wells and wonder what massage to do first. Well, why don't you try the back stretch function for a start. The calf wells gently grip your calves, and the chair slowly reclines, gently massaging and arching your back for a truly refreshing stretch.

Next, the air bags begin massaging your feet and calves. We've discussed the pros and cons of air bags and mechanical rollers in our Omega Montage review, so we won't do that here, but we're definitely sold on air bags for the feet and calves. They give the massage function a great deal of flexibility for the feet and calves, where flexibility is crucial, even if the strength is not quite as good as the mechanical rollers.

The Human Touch 1650 has two massage programs and three speed settings to control massage of the feet and calves. Add to that the under-feet acupoints, and you have a great deal of control in the type of massage you want for your lower half. The foot and calf massager also has a vibrating function, which is said to enhance circulation. We aren't doctors, so we don't know whether circulation is improved, but we do know the vibration is a truly relaxing function.

Now to the seat. The seat delivers what Human Touch calls its Air Impulse massage. It is made up of 8 pods that deliver a two-stage pulsing air massage. In short, it massages your buns and the underside of your thighs with a gentle air technology massage, which Human Touch calls "analog pressure pointing with pulsing force." In layman terms, this means the massage moves and pulses, giving you a relaxing rub.

Pause with me for a moment to discuss how we describe these massage chairs. We often get questions about what these different terms mean, and it's difficult to describe them. Let's be honest about it--the only way to truly understand the massage delivered by these chairs is to sit in them, but the only way to help an individual wanting to purchase a chair online is to describe these chairs in a way that can be understood and almost "felt" by the reader.

So let's return to the Human Touch 1650. I left off with the seat. It is made of high-quality leather and a visco-elastic foam seat cushion. In other words, it provides gentle seating that spreads pressure over your entire back end, not just on a few pressure points. The massage is able to work through the padding without being irritating.

Moving up into the back, the first thing we noticed was the heating. The chair, like many other chairs, provides heating to your lower back to help relax your muscles. The chair also provides acupoint detection in the back to help customize your massage. This feature is not as advanced as the Sanyo system, but unless you are very very particular, your back massage will still be fully satisfying and therapeutic.

You can customize your massage intensity with a massage comfort number. Simply press a button on the remote control to either increase or decrease the intensity of your massage.

This brings us to the very convenient remote control. It allows you to control everything about the chair, and it is handier and more intuitive than some of the other controllers on the market. You can choose any of the 8 pre-programmed massage functions, change the intensity, and control any of the myriad other functions of this chair. While you may overlook the importance of the remote control, we feel it is really an important part of the massage chair experience, and Human Touch has done an excellent job making their control convenient and complete without turning it into a monster-sized control panel.

The pre-programmed massage functions are sore muscle relief, sports and back therapy, leg/foot/hip therapy, neck and should relief, after-work stretch, morning energize, night-time soothing, and auto demo. If you want to go beyond these programs, you can customize your own massage right from the remote control.

The massage length is 27 inches, which is shorter than the Omega and Sanyo chairs in this class, so you should look to one of those chairs if you are taller than average; it reclines up to 170 degrees, again less than some of the other chairs, but completely adequate; and the maximum weight for the chair occupant is 285.

As you can tell, we're very much sold on this chair. However, we're not as excited about the customer service Human Touch offers or their 90-day limited warranty. Human Touch's returns policy is also more restrictive than other manufacturers in this class. Problems can be corrected, with some time and effort. However, Human Touch is not as committed as some of our other manufacturers to keeping their customers happy after the sale. Don't get the wrong idea-almost every Human Touch customer is thrilled with his or her chair and would buy it again, but for that rare customer who has something go wrong, the most convenient, least expensive, and quickest fix is going to come from Sanyo or Omega, who each have much longer warranties and better returns policies.

Notwithstanding this issue, though, we're very pleased to rank the Human Touch 1650 as our number three chair in the $4,000 to $5,000 range. When you buy your HT 1650, you will be in good company, because the Human Technology is the preferred technology of the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists. You won't be disappointed with its style, versatility, performance, and convenience.

Get Daily Back Pain Relief - Massage Chair Performs Deep Tissue Massage

If you suffer from constant, dull pain, muscle tension or chronic pain, then many regular massage techniques are just not effective for these conditions. In these situations a deep tissue massage may be just what the doctor ordered. A deep tissue massage penetrates beyond the superficial layers of the muscles to get to the root of the pain or discomfort. Muscles have long flexible tendons, but can breakdown and become shorter and less flexible causing pain and discomfort. A deep tissue massage seeks to elongate these tendons to restore their inherent flexibility.

In daily life muscles get exercised or stressed by our activities and begin to breakdown through time. Add injury to the equation, and now scar tissue is introduced, which is again less flexible. Therefore, to get effective relief, the massage must penetrate deeply into the muscles to help break down scar tissue and crystallization. This deep penetration helps to restore the muscles and their flexibility.

Professional athletes receive deep tissue massages on a regular basis to restore their muscles, breakdown scar tissue and increase their mobility. This is especially critical after hard training and exercise. Professional athletes have regular access to obtain deep tissue massage therapy and thus can get the full benefit of the treatment. Those of us who are not professional athletes are at a significant disadvantage, since we may not have a massage therapist at our continuous disposal.

Studies show that deep tissue is effective for relieving muscle pain, tension and anxiety. Since the daily stress on our bodies is continuous, the treatments are only truly beneficial when received on a continuous, recurring basis. A one time treatment is not a one-time cure all. To get daily pain relief, the treatment must be given with sufficient frequency. This is where a deep tissue massage chair can be a tremendous asset. There is an amazing variety of potential massage therapies to target areas for pain relief.

Technology continues to advance at a rapid pace and deep tissue massage has been integrated into many of the premier massage chair brands. Companies like Panasonic, Omega Massage and others are pushing the limits with ever more varieties massage therapies into their chairs. These massage therapies include air compression, stretching, heating elements, music therapy to name a few. Software programs control all aspects of the deep tissue massage. The program starts the massage more superficially and then gradual works deeper into the muscles working out the tightness, pain and aches.

These massage chair companies are developing therapies for persons who suffer from more chronic conditions such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, muscle cramping and even carpal tunnel syndrome. Many new features target such areas. With air compression massage, for example, there are airbags for your hands and forearms. The program will gently squeeze, hold and then release. This gentle, repetitive action loosens the muscles, relieves aches and pains. Massage chairs can deliver full body massages from the neck to the feet.

Deep tissue massage is not for everyone. Since this massage specifically targets getting to the deep layers of the muscle, most people may feel sore the next day. This is normal as the massage has penetrated to the deeper layers to relieve tension. If this is a concern, then it is always advisable to ask your doctor if this type of massage is appropriate for you. Many health professionals are optimistic that with more studies being performed, that deep tissue massage will be shown to provide more significant benefits for chronic pain sufferers.

But remember, the effectiveness of massage therapy is obtaining it on a regular basis. Stress, tension, anxiety builds up gradually and must be relieved on a continuous basis. People who have more chronic conditions should also receive massage therapy on a continuous basis. As the damage to muscles is more severe, it takes more time for the healing process. Seek relief for your pain. A great way to do this is to see what massage chair recliners are available. There is one for every pain and every price range.

Acupressure Massage Therapy Restore Balance & Harmony

Clean out your system with an Acupressure massage. Acupressure massage is based on the ancient Chinese medical arts of acupuncture, but without the needles. Acupressure is accomplished by putting medium pressure on particular trigger points throughout the body. This type of massage therapy activates the body's energy to increase the effectiveness of the immune system and restore balance within the body. Now technology is being used to locate and stimulate your body's acupressure points in the premier massage chair brands of today.

Acupressure is a massage technique which helps to release blocked energy centers in your body. Science has confirmed the existence of meridian pathways using various electrical techniques. Chinese medical arts understood these meridian pathways to carry energy throughout the body. They noticed that certain junctures or centers could become inhibited or blocked causing the body to be out of balance. By applying pressure to certain pressure points in the body, the energy flow could be manipulated and restored. Science has now mapped out the body's acupressure points and has cataloged over 350 points in the body.

Acupressure massage is performed using kneading, tapping and vibration massage techniques. These massage techniques are used throughout the body in conjunction with stimulating the acupressure points. Delivering the acupressure massage is achieved by making rapid circular motions with medium pressure on particular trigger points. The trigger points are then stimulated in conjunction with massaging the body to release blocked energy. The energy flow is restored and the body returns to a normal balance.

Acupressure massage therapy has many positive benefits. It helps to alleviate stress, muscle tension, aches and pains. It helps to harness the body's own recuperative powers. The acupressure stimulations help diffuse the build up of toxins in the body. As toxins in the body build up, it causes stiffness in the muscles. This muscle stiffness puts pressure on the circulatory and lymph systems. This puts unequal pressure on your body putting it out of balance and harmony.

Massage chairs incorporate advanced technology to accurately locate the trigger points of the body. The software programs make a map of the users trigger points. The acupressure massage is then customized for each individual user. There are almost 100 trigger points in the back alone. Massage chairs have outstanding capabilities to stimulate your acupressure points and apply massage techniques such as kneading, percussion and vibration. These massage therapies are effective in relieving soreness, aches and pains in the back, shoulder and neck.

For the lower body, many manufacturers have developed air compression systems. The air compression systems incorporate specifically designed airbags with special nodes to activate trigger points in the lower body. When the air compression system activates, the airbag inflates and the node pushes gently into the trigger point. These are most commonly found for the back of the calves and for the bottom of the feet. Stimulating these trigger points help to induce total body relaxation and release accumulated tension.

New studies of acupressure massage are showing that it can help alleviate headaches, insomnia, dizziness, digestive disorders, constipation and in some cases even motion sickness. We are just beginning to understand the power of acupressure which has been known for centuries in China. Modern technology is being employed in the best massage chair recliners to deliver more effective acupressure massage treatments. The true effectiveness of acupressure massage is when it is done on a frequent basis. Remember stress accumulates daily, so the stress must also be released periodically. Massage chairs are the most cost effective and convenient way of receiving the benefits of acupressure massage.

Your health is your most important asset. Protect it with the best chair therapy massage for your total health needs. Research massage chair recliner brands from Panasonic, Omega and Sanyo. Peruse our massage chair reviews to help you find the best massage chair for your needs.

Massage Chair Review - Sanyo Zero-Gravity Chair HEC-DR7700K

You may have read our first article in this Top 25 Massage Chairs series, which we wrote for the Omega Montage Premier massage chair with MP3. We ranked that chair number 2 in the $4,000 to $5,000 range. This article reviews our winner in this category, the Sanyo HEC-DR7700K Zero-Gravity massage chair.

As I prepared to write this article, I spoke with our customer service manager about the level of customer service we receive from Sanyo. Without hesitation, she said, "Very good. We've never had any problems with them." Knowing that she had also highly recommended Omega, I asked her, "Even better than Omega?" Again, her reply was unequivocal: "Yes. Omega is great, but sometimes they will call the customer directly instead of getting right back to us. With Sanyo we never have any problem at all." Her positive responses on Sanyo were enthusiastic and encouraging. And as you've read in our other articles, our philosophy is that no quality or feature in a chair can make up for poor customer service. In Sanyo we've found the hub of the rub, the lead knead, the best press--you get the point. Sanyo provides truly unexcelled customer service.

Having said that, we have a real concern with the relatively short warranty period (1 year labor and parts, 3 years on the roller mechanism, and 1 year in-home warranty. As always, check your actual warranty for specific limitations and consider the extended warranty.) We can't understand the short warranty, since the chairs are well-manufactured and solid. The company does offer a service hotline that is open 24/7 and an extended service warranty, but both require an extra fee for non-warranty items. So that's our one caveat about this chair.

Let's talk about the features of the Zero-Gravity massage chair. First, what does "Zero-Gravity" mean? Quite simply, it is the position developed by NASA for astronauts in a zero-gravity environment. It is the position the human body naturally assumes when there is no gravity, and Sanyo implies that this is the most relaxing position in the world (or out of the world, as the case may be). The Zero-Gravity chair easily puts you in this position with the touch of a button.

Does it work? Is the chair truly more comfortable because of this available position? It depends on whom you ask, but our opinion is that the position really is a fantastic innovation. All massages can be delivered from the Zero-Gravity position. Of course, the same position can be assumed by some other chairs, but the convenience of the one-touch position is great. Furthermore, the Zero-Gravity can tip you further back and again give you the same position in a feet-elevated position. Try programming that into any other chair 20 times fast!

So what about the other features? As always, there are too many features to discuss everything, but let me outline some of the unique features we haven't found in any other chair. First is the Exclusive Stiffness Detection Sensor. Many chairs offer some kind of position and stiffness sensor, and some are quite good (Omega's infrared sensor is excellent), but the Zero-Gravity sensor actually uses photo sensory and galvanic skin response to measure your pulse and perspiration and deliver a highly-customized massage to areas of stiffness and tension. Have you ever had a personal massage from someone who truly adapted to your mood and your physical condition? If you did, you had an almost-emotional experience. That's the direction this Zero-Gravity chair is headed. Obviously, it's not there yet, but unless you can afford a 24-hour masseuse who never gets tired who reads your mood and condition, your best substitute is the Sanyo Zero-Gravity.

And that is true, not only because of the sensors, but because of the chair's ability to deliver the massage the sensors indicate you need. The new Exclusive GK (grasping and kneading) rollers are thumb-shaped and successfully reach out and comfortably squeeze the neck and tops of the shoulders. and the air bags deliver shiatsu massage, heat and relaxation to multiple points in the feet, ankles, calves, and legs. We've discussed at length the limitations and benefits of air bags in our article about the Omega Montage Premier, so we won't repeat those comments here, but in summary, we feel that air bags are definitely the future of technology in the massage chair world.

Now, what about the roller system? The roller mechanism comes with a three-year warranty, so Sanyo is showing some confidence in that system, which (if you'll forgive the expression) is the backbone of the Zero-Gravity chair. It is unexcelled in length with the 31" back massage length (greater by one inch than the Omega Montage). The chair width is adjustable for those of us who need less of it. And the leg extension can accommodate those of us with longer legs, up to a standing height of 6'5".

Other features include a control panel that can be attached to either side of the chair and a mouse-shaped sub-controller, which contains the stiffness detection sensor and lets you fine-tune your massage. If you want to repeat a massage on a targeted area, the Zero-Gravity has a repeat feature that allows you to continually massage that area.

As with some of the other chairs in this class, the Zero-Gravity is made with a high-quality synthetic leather that feels like leather but isn't subject to cracking and breakage that plagues real leather chairs.

Finally, the Zero-Gravity offers five automatic massage courses and 83 combination manual massage courses, including grip, shiatsu, kneading, tapping, kneading and tapping, and various stretches. The selection is enormous!

The chair is made in Japan. This gives you a good deal of confidence that the chair is well-made. It also means the chair will be expensive. In our opinion, however, a person making a purchase of this magnitude would be well-advised to get a chair that will live up to expectations, even if the expense is significant. In our experience, and judging from the lack of returns of this chair, your expectations will be met if you purchase a Sanyo Zero-Gravity HEC-DR7700K massage chair.

And that is why, overall, we rank this chair number one in the $4,000 to $5,000 class. The decision between this chair and the Omega Montage is a difficult one. Omega has apparently been able to pass through some savings by manufacturing their chairs in China with Japanese parts, so you will pay a little less for the Omega. Furthermore, the Omega has a raft of excellent features and offers a longer warranty. But Sanyo stands out in its technological ability to scan for your body's needs, and that ability, coupled with Sanyo's excellent customer service, allow the Zero-Gravity to float into top position.
